Jobs 33:14, English Standard Version

“For God speaks in one way, and in two, though man does not perceive it.”

Become His (Part Two)

I was born-again in 1978, through an experience which proved to me the reality of God and His love which cannot be earned nor destroyed. I became aware His Spirit was daily leading me into all truth, through the mind of Christ. He was renewing the spirit of my mind with Father’s words of life. His Spirit quickened within me. I had been given ears to hear, spiritual eyes to see, and a new heart wherein I could receive. I came to understand that which He chooses to reveal, as His Spirit leads me ever forward into His Kingdom within and among us. With that mindset, I began seeking His will each day and followed as His spirit guided me step- by- step. He taught me how to hear His voice in a great variety of ways. At first, He spoke to me when I opened to scripture, (which I discovered needed to be spiritually- discerned,) as they are not to always be taken literally. Through a progressive process, His Spirit taught me through others who had gone before me, and through Christian gatherings, music, books which jumped out at me, as well as dreams and visions. I received revelations through inner knowing, which were dropped in my Spirit, as He taught my soul how to abide in Jesus, embracing the living words to proclaim His good news, and gospel of the Kingdom of God coming on earth as it is in heaven, for the benefit of all of humanity. Eventually I received the knowledge that I am to offer some of the experiences I received over time to encourage others along their journey of faith to rest in His love. Here is an early example, one of many that He taught me over the past forty-six years. It is a short chapter in one of my free online books:

While driving down a major Beltway to take an exit, the thought came to me, “Don’t take that exit, go another way.”

I remember responding. “Yeah… I think I will go straight ahead, I like to take different roads sometimes.”

Just after I passed the exit, I heard the sound of crashing vehicles. There was a six-car pileup on that exit lane. I knew I would have been in the middle of it had I not changed lanes. Upon having this revelation, I heard from deep within, “Pay attention to your thoughts. I speak to you all of the time, but you don’t always notice.”

Shortly before that, I was walking through the master bedroom of one of my clients who was out of Town, when I vaguely heard the thought, “Don’t open the closet.”

I remember responding, “Why would I open the closet, I don’t snoop? Besides, I already cleaned and organized it,” I thought, dismissing it.

The next time I went to their home, I noticed the sheer curtains on the sliding glass doors gently blowing out through a breeze. Then I saw the freezer door was open and assumed my presence had scared away a burglar. I closed and locked it and called the police. They told me, “Go outside, and wait in your locked car with your lights out, until an officer arrives.”

As I sat there in the dark, it was not long before I saw a bunch of police cars quickly but quietly arriving with their headlights out. Numerous men got out and ran towards the house with their guns out. As I was thinking, “Wow, this is like something you would see in a movie.” An officer knocked on my car window and said, “Are you Brenda?”

A while later the police got in touch with me to give me an account of what they discovered during their investigation. They found a ladder leaning up against the balcony to the master bedroom, on the side of the house that faced the woods. They had apprehended a man who was a suspected rapist. There was evidence he had been hiding in that closet. “You are a very lucky young lady.” was their closing remarks.

It was then I remembered the day of the six-car pileup, and the thought pattern that I had while walking through the bedroom came to mind. I heard once again, “Pay attention to your thoughts.”
