Proverbs 3:25-26, New King James Version
"Do not be afraid of sudden terror, or of the ruin of the wicked; for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught".
Jesus Calm The Storm Part Two
The scripture promises us that He is with us. He walks with us in every storm. The example is in Matthew 8:23-27 (NKJV), “Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, ‘Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!’ He replied, ‘You of little faith, why are you so afraid?’ Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. The men were amazed and asked, ‘What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!’” Now think if you are denying Him? It is never too late. This event is about the disciples' lack of faith, as they were so panicked despite being with Jesus. This miracle shows that Jesus has authority over the natural world and can control even the most powerful forces.
• Trusting in Jesus: Even when faced with challenges and fear, we should trust in Jesus' ability to bring calm and peace.
• Importance of Faith: The disciples' fear highlights the importance of having strong faith in Jesus. If we are completely honest with ourselves, we do or have questioned Jesus' humanity or struggle to imagine Him as a person. We may even be afraid of God. How many of us have felt like we are completely alone in our own crisis? I know I have felt it. Even sometimes as a devoted new Christian. I have to remind myself that God walks through every crisis at the same time as I do. Just think of this, if there are twenty-five of us with entirely different crises at the same time, He is not going through one crisis, but twenty-five. How does that make you feel? Your crisis doesn’t seem quite as bad. Even if you are a Christian, a pastor, an atheist or even one of His disciples you will have a crisis– or even many of them like me. Just know that everyone has a Father. He wants to teach you how to get up and walk, how to open your eyes and see, trust Him as you follow His Son, if you fall down give Him your hand and allow Him to carry you over the fire.
You should know these 5 facts of a crises as a Christian:
One: Crisis is inevitable
Two: Crisis is variable
Three: Crisis is impartial
Four: Crisis is unpredictable
Five: I can choose my response to my crisis
We can find your peace in a crisis by: First, refocus on God's closeness. Second, rely on God’s care. Third, remember God is in control. Always remember that in a storm He is the only one that can control the storm, but you have to take the responsibility for your actions. He gives each of us the free will to choose our outcome. The painting that I did is two- sided. The storm side was way easier to paint than the calm side. When I was painting it, I started to get tired of painting the calm storm. I started to reflect on the painting. The first side represents a life with chaos, crisis, and worldly problems not relying on our Father and His promises to us. The second painting is a life full of His promises for us, and how He can calm any storm within us. We have to rely on Him in the deepest darkest times. Christ is calming the storm in our life. The journey is not always going to be easy, but the promises He gives us a way greater than a video game, football game, cheerleading, or anything else that makes us happy in the world. Our life can be cut short. We have to live every second for Him. It is the difference of eternity.
