Revelation 19:10, King James Version
“…For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
The Willow Story: Part Two
“I will give water to the thirsty land and make streams flow on the dry ground. I will pour out my spirit on your children and my blessing on your descendants. They will thrive like well-watered grass, like willows by streams of running water.” (Isaiah 44:3-4, GNT)
The verse was not only a promise of children, but my husband and I already knew that Willow would be the name of our daughter if we were ever to have one. It not only goes with our tree-theme names, but it is the symbol of a bridge between loss and hope. And because of that verse, I knew she would be here one day. God is so faithful, and I began thanking Him for what hasn’t happened yet. He made a promise and through that promise, He told me He would keep it.
Around Christmas, we were shopping for decorations, and we found this tall light-up twinkling willow tree. Griff and I looked at each other and both knew we had to get it. This would be a reminder of that promise through scripture. His promises are always kept. Always, yes, and Amen!
Another few months passed, and I started feeling a little discouraged. Negative after negative. The enemy fought me so hard, and I struggled to keep my head up. Then God whispered another promise. “You will find out on a day that is very special to you.” Surely enough, just as He promised, I saw a BFP (big fat positive) on my husband’s birthday. Though we were over the moon and so thankful I was pregnant, I was still more anxious than I have ever been. I had constant nightmares about losing this baby and even received those types of comments about “It’s all in God’s timing. Just wait to announce when you have made it to the second trimester just in case.” But I held onto that verse as closely as possible and spoke it over her and Psalm 91 every day. The only thing God told me to do is praise. Praise Him. He is good. He is faithful. My praise during this pregnancy was the weapon I needed to press forward until the day I held her in my arms.
Here we are in 2025, with our sixteen-month-old baby girl, Willow Praise, sitting by our twinkling tree. When you look at this picture, I hope our story can help encourage you to keep believing. The Lord is good, and He truly is faithful! To those who are still waiting, my heart goes out to you; we are standing and declaring your miracle with you. Do not be discouraged by the lies of the enemy. God will always have the final say and He will work everything for your good.
One day, you will be telling people the story of how God fulfilled His promise. You will get to tell your sweet baby how you prayed for them, how much you fought for them, and how you would have given anything for them to be here with you. That will be your story. This is not the end. And He is faithful to complete what He started every time.
“For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him, Amen, to the glory of God through us.” (2 Corinthians 1:20, NKJV)
