Proverbs 22:6, English Standard Version
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
How He Found Me
This is hard to share. It’s scary putting something so personal out in the open!
But I want to tell my story.
I was raised by a strong, Godly mother whose faith never wavered, even through sickness. She taught me to know the Lord, but my decision to follow Him came from something personal.
As I grew older, I strayed. I stopped praying, lost touch with my family, and fell into a life far from what God intended. I was only attracted to women, heavily drinking, and surrounded by people who didn’t walk with God. Though I met good people, my soul felt empty, and I was deeply unhappy.
Then I moved to a small town in Missouri, and something shifted. In a moment of desperation, I prayed for the first time in a long time. I asked God to refine me, to remove anything keeping me from truth, even the parts of myself I thought were permanent.
I even told Him that some parts of me were beyond my own reach, and if they were to change, it would have to be by His hand, not mine.
That night, I fell asleep praying—and woke up changed. I cannot explain it, but everything was different. My heart, my desires, my direction. The old me was gone.
It’s been over a year since that moment. Today, I am walking in God’s truth. I have found peace, a loving church family, and a renewed heart. I am joyfully waiting for my future husband yes, husband—because my love for Christ brought clarity to who I am and how I’m meant to love and who I’m meant to love.
Surrendering to God brought me home. He didn’t just heal me—He gave me life. Purpose.
I am whole…
