Romans 12:7, New Living Translation
“…If you are a teacher, teach well.”
When the Lord showed us that we would be going back to Kenya I had some mixed feelings. On one hand, I knew that the trip would be very long, and it would be very draining. On the other hand, I was also very excited to be able to meet our host Bishop Thomas and his wife again. As the summer came though, I found myself becoming more and more excited about the trip and by the time we left, I can say I was about as excited as I had even been for a mission trip to start.
Once we arrived there was a great joy that was in the midst of the team. We all got along very well, and we always kept the work of ministry as the main thing. We got to meet many people and do many things but for me, I can say that the thing that I enjoyed the most was being able to teach the word of God to the brothers and sisters in Kenya. They were hungry to hear God’s word. It seemed that no matter how long the team taught and spoke, they continued to listen.
One of my favorite memories was being blessed to teach two days at the leadership teaching conference that had been scheduled. I was blessed to be able to teach the leaders, pastors and elders about the importance of teaching the whole word of the Lord and not showing partiality in teaching the word. I was blessed to be able to warn the leaders about pride and easily it can take root in our hearts. And I was blessed to be able to teach about the role of the pastor and how we must love those people who the Lord has placed around us with the same love that Jesus has shown to us.
I also found that the Lord exposed me to a new experience, open demonic activity. On two separate days as we prayed over people and anointed them, we encountered open demonic activity. I was amazed to see how the Holy Spirit began to lead and guide the mission team and the leaders there to address the situation. I can say once again that there is victory in the name of Jesus and He never fails!
The final thing that I cannot leave out is that the Lord led seventy-six people to accept Christ and be baptized while we were there. The team was totally blown away as we were blessed to be able to baptize person after person and pray over them. God is on the move across the world and He isn’t done yet!
