Psalm 144:1, New Living Translation

“Praise the LORD, who is my rock. He trains my hands for war and gives my fingers skill for battle.”

Walk Not Run Part One

Writing a blog is my yes to God. I clearly have no idea what He has in store or how I make this plan work, but He knows and that’s good enough for me.

So where do we go from here? My testimony? Scripture I have been reading?

Nah!

Not yet at least.

Instead, we took a detour to toddler town. My littlest child has been experimenting with different variations of the word no. Some of her favorites include stop it, nut uh, go away, and shhh.

Fan favorite in our house is “stop it.”

While adorable coming from that little mouth with her big smirk, it can be rather infuriating when she’s got her pants full of something not so adorable. Especially when she decides to work on her baby aerobics and go for a run.

To her this is fun, new and even brain building. But to a tired, flustered mom, it can feel like the last straw. As she gator rolls with each wipe of the tush, my level of patience gets lower and lower. I would be lying if I didn’t admit that I have lost my cool a few times over this game she enjoys so much.

Of course, her intent is not to rile me up for fun, she genuinely thinks being a pantsless mess is enjoyable. She has zero understanding that her bum will burn like hot soup if left unclean. Isn’t that the bee's knees of parenting, knowing that our children’s choices will have negative consequences and they will still resist our guidance on the matter?

You see where I am headed with this, don’t you?

God gave us the generous gift of choice and, due to this, He watches us make choices despite His guidance.

Second honest thought: I wanted to ignore His directions to create this blog. I really did not like that He wanted me to heal from my hurts in a public way. I fought it for several months.

I know what you are thinking: what a great follower of Christ! It’s okay; I get how it sounds admitting I did not want to listen to the Creator of the universe.
