Numbers 23:8, New International Version

“How can I curse those whom God has not cursed? How can I denounce those whom the Lord has not denounced?”

There’s a deep peace that comes when you finally realize that the enemy doesn’t have the power you once thought he did. For many believers, fear has been the quiet companion of their faith — the thought that someone could “speak a curse” over them, or that unseen spiritual forces could somehow dictate their destiny. But when you look at what Scripture really says that fear begins to melt away in the light of God’s truth. You discover that no person, demon, or even Satan himself can curse what God has already blessed.

Remember Balaam in the book of Numbers? King Balak hired him to curse the people of Israel because he feared their strength. But every time Balaam opened his mouth, God turned the intended curse into a blessing. Balaam finally had to admit, “How can I curse those whom God has not cursed? How can I denounce those whom the Lord has not denounced?” (Numbers 23:8). That wasn’t just about Israel — that’s about anyone who walks in covenant with God. You and I, through Christ, belong to that same covering of divine favor. What began as an attack, God turned into testimony.

Fear tells us that the enemy’s words have authority, but faith reminds us that only God’s word stands forever. Proverbs 26:2 says, “Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow, an undeserved curse does not come to rest.” In other words, a curse may be spoken, but it can’t land where it doesn’t belong. When you’re covered by the blood of Jesus, nothing the enemy sends can stick. God’s blessing is the final word on your life, and no one can overrule His decree.

That’s what Paul was getting at in Galatians 3:13 — “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us.” Every curse, every accusation, every attempt of the enemy to claim your life has already been answered at the cross. When Jesus took your sin upon Himself, He took every curse with it. Now, all that remains over you is blessing. Ephesians 1:3 says you have been blessed “with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms.” That means your life isn’t waiting for blessings, it’s already soaked in it.

So the next time fear whispers that someone has cursed you, or that evil words have power over you, remind yourself of this: you are sealed by the Holy Spirit, covered by the blood of Christ, and held in the Father’s hand. No curse can penetrate that. No accusation can stand against that. You don’t have to fight for that protection — it’s already yours. The safest place in the universe is “in Christ,” and that’s exactly where you are.
