Matthew 28:6 New International Version
“He is not here; He has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay.”
As we come to the final part of the Resurrection journey, everything leads to this moment—the empty tomb. The cross was not the end of the story. What seemed like defeat on Friday was transformed into victory on Sunday. The resurrection of Jesus is not just an event we celebrate; it is the foundation of everything we believe. Without it, there is no gospel. But because He lives, everything has changed.
When the women arrived at the tomb, they expected to find a sealed grave. Instead, they were met with a message that would echo throughout history: “He is not here; He has risen.” In that moment, death was defeated. The power of sin was broken. What no human effort could accomplish, God fulfilled through His Son. The resurrection is the confirmation that the sacrifice of the cross was accepted and complete.
The resurrection also reminds us that Jesus is exactly who He claimed to be. Throughout His ministry, He spoke of His death and His rising again. When the tomb was found empty, it validated every promise, every teaching, and every declaration He made. He is not just a teacher, not just a prophet—He is the risen Savior. Our faith is not built on ideas, but on a living Christ.
But the resurrection is not only about what happened to Jesus—it’s about what it means for us. Because He lives, we have hope beyond this life. Because He lives, sin no longer has the final word. Because He lives, we are offered new life, both now and for eternity. The same power that raised Christ from the dead is at work in those who believe, transforming hearts and renewing lives. The empty tomb calls us to respond. It is not just information to be understood—it is truth to be embraced. The resurrection invites us to place our faith in Jesus, to trust in His finished work, and to walk in the new life He provides. It is a call to move from death to life, from fear to hope, and from doubt to faith.
As we reflect on Resurrection Sunday, we are reminded that the story does not end in the grave. Jesus is alive. And because He lives, we can live with confidence, purpose, and unshakable hope. The victory of the resurrection is not just something we remember—it is something we live in every day.
