John 16:33, New International Version

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

This past weekend my wife and I needed to move some things. We had a piano in our home that belonged to my mother, and we needed to move it back to her. And my brother also wanted to give me a woodworking machine which was large and very heavy. In order to do this, we needed help. We borrowed a large box trailer from a friend, and we also had some friends come to help us move the items. The day was going well, and we had dropped off the piano and had already gotten the machine from my brother’s house successfully. However, as we were bringing the machine home, I noticed something wrong with the car. I had to pull over and smoke was coming out of the motor. We broke down and were at a gas station with 7 people and a heavy trailer.

In the moment my heart was heavy. I felt sad that my friends were stuck there with us, and I had no idea what to do. I prayed in my mind, and we began to call different brothers in Christ. One by one they responded. One person came immediately with his truck to pull the trailer the rest of the way home. Another came immediately with a van to pick up the others. And another was able to arrange to have a tow truck come and pick up the broken car and tow it to the mechanic for no cost. Within three hours of being broken down, everyone was home again, and both the trailer and car had been delivered and it was all done at no cost. How amazing is our Lord!

It could have been very easy to become angry and question the Lord as to why this was happening. It could have been easy to have focused upon the negative. Instead, we choose to focus not on the trial, but upon the provision that the Lord brought to us as we were going through the trial. He never leaves us, and He never forsakes us!

I am not sure what kind of trial you may be facing today, or what trail be coming tomorrow. But I am sure of one thing, the Lord knows, and He has a plan. We must remember not to trust in our own understanding but to seek His will. Call out to Him and He will be sure to respond. He already has the answer ready. Be encouraged today to know that the Lord knows what you face! Amen and Amen!
