A Large Family

“Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.” (Psalm 127:3-5, KJV)
When a person thinks about the inheritance, they hope to receive. I don’t think anyone ever thinks smaller is better, and yet the Lord’s inheritance for us—children, is received with such strong emotions. So many people are convinced that the environment, our bodies, our pocketbooks and our hearts can’t handle the overload. I am here to encourage you that it can!
My husband and I caught the vision of a large family several years ago through a publication called Above Rubies magazine. In it we would read of so many large families and how God worked in and through them. Now we are experiencing it ourselves. Just tonight two of our children were able to help a neighbor clear brush. Last week two of our other children helped an elderly lady weed her garden. Many hands make light work the Bible tells us, and we know it firsthand to be true!
One of the number one reasons people refrain from having a lot of children is a lack of faith in Gods provision. I know that’s what stopped me in the beginning. It wasn’t until I fully surrendered to Jesus’ teaching about the birds and lilies in Matthew 6:26 that I had a peace in moving forward. In our sixteen years of raising our twelve children I am here to testify of God’s incredible faithfulness and provision for our every need!
God has a heritage far greater for you than you can ever imagine. Trust Him, believe His word and don’t allow the world to influence its agenda. God is good!
