The True Enemy of Marriage

As first described in Genesis and later affirmed by Jesus, marriage is a God-ordained, covenant relationship between a man and a woman. And the Word of God also affirmed that “…they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” (Matthew 19:6, NIV)
In our modern culture, this statement may create a lot of argument. Yet, I do not expect the unbeliever to agree with me. However, if you are a believer of Jesus, then you should be very close attention:
“For if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church?” (1 Timothy 3:5, ESV)
“If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.” (Mark 3:4-25, NIV)
The enemy knows the truth and the power of the truth. He pays attention to what the Lord says, and he acts on it. The difference between him and us is the way that we act upon it. We aim to follow, and he aims to oppose. Because of that, no matter what he must take, steal, or kill in our lives, his goal is to destroy the power of God’s truth in our lives. That includes the truth about marriage. He creates doubt, brings temptation, redefines what God has defined, and whispers whatever fantasy he can to tickle our ears so that we can justify agreeing with his plan.
Husbands and wives, it is time for you to recognize the weapons of the enemy – the devil – the oppressor of the Word of God. He is the disorder which is against the order God has set. He envies you and the life of abundance given by the Lord God almighty. He hates the beauty, the love, the joy, the peace, and all the blessings God brings into your life. He does not want you to have a future and a hope, and he will never stop manipulating you until you start to reject the plan that God has for you. Let’s make this statement very clear:
If husband and wife are divided against themselves, that marriage cannot stand. A strong marriage is a foundation of a family, and if it’s broken, that family cannot stand. A broken family creates wounds and cracks in the children’s souls. Remember, if someone does not know how to manage their own household, their marriage, or how to demonstrate the power of the truth of God for their own children…how could they fully care for God’s church?
The enemy does not care about you, your life, or your purpose. You are a tool for him to use against God. He wants to destroy the plan and future that God has for you and for His kingdom. Be wise and remember, your husband or your wife is not your enemy, instead recognize the tactics and the distractions of the enemy.
