The Lord Knows Your Spouse Best

At the last marriage seminar in May, by the grace of God, I shared how the Lord’s will was for my husband and me to become one in Him, as well as the way He led us. It was funny how there were misunderstandings because of our different languages, and yet the Lord could still use it for His good plan. However, the best thing I would love to share with you is just as I shared there: the Lord knows your spouse best!

As I mentioned, we have different languages because we are from different parts of the world. The language I used daily and grew up with in my homeland is not the same as his. When we were introduced to each other, and when the Lord opened the door, we were physically in two different countries with a twelve-hour time difference. What did this mean? Our dating only relied on messaging. No dinners out, no going to the theater to watch a movie, no walking through the park, hiking, or boating to see the sunrise or sunset. We came to know each other through words, and words alone. Well, it actually worked well. It also proved that communication is a very important part of relationships.

But like I said, the Lord knows your spouse best! Communication has proven to be very important, yet the big help comes from the Lord. Deep knowing is given through the revealing of the Holy Spirit! We spoke to each other, not just with meaningless words or our own understanding of each other, or by the experience of any relationship we ever had, but with His love language spoken through us to one another. There was no guessing, doubting, trying, or bringing harm, and no repeating the hurt that may have occurred in our past. Instead, healing from the past hurt was taking place through this marriage relationship.

Does that mean we never have mistaken moments? As long as we fix our focus on the Lord, walk with the Spirit, and do not act on our own by following our emotions, the answer is yes! Would that be possible? Fix your eyes on the Lord and find out for yourself! Because I have found that if I lose sight of Him, I fail to show love, the proper love my husband needs in the moment.
