Proverbs 3:5-6, New Living Translation
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”
My life has changed so much in the last few months. Really, for the better. I am seeing God show up in ways that only leave me wanting more of Him in my life. I am seeing that with Him in control, everything works better. I am learning to trust Him in all things. It is a process still, but it's like the process has become somewhat easier. I am learning that, even when I don't see what I desire in my circumstances, God is still working, and I can count on Him to bring to fruition what needs to happen. Not my way, but His way. I continue to wait upon the Lord with eager expectation of what He is going to do! I continue to pray and to seek Him knowing He will never fail me.
My brothers and sisters, this wasn't always an easy thing for me. It is the difficult moments in life that either make us or break us. We either seek God in those moments and desperately hang on for an answer from God, or we sink into a pit the devil placed in our path. Even when things look dark, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” (Proverbs 3:5-6, NLT) Sometimes things don't make sense. With our human eye, we can't understand why or what is happening. But know that God is fighting for you, even when you are desperately hanging on!
There is a saying that I have heard said "don't miss heaven by 12 inches." What this is saying really is that the knowledge we have in our head needs to drop 12 inches to our heart. It needs to become heart knowledge. It needs to be something that we believe in one hundred percent with no doubts at all! This needs to be with God's word! I remember one day I was standing with my husband in the living room. I had told him that I wanted the abundant life that Jesus talks about and that I didn't have it. Right after that conversation, I picked up a book about soul healing and opened it up to the chapter I was at and began to read. It literally talked about us having an abundant life right here, right now. All of a sudden, it was like that information dropped from my head to my heart. In a moment, my life changed. I can't explain what happened exactly, accept that I know that God did a miracle in my life that brought truth to my heart and freedom in my life I had never known before.
The Bible tells us, “’In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you,’ says the Lord. ‘I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes. I will gather you out of the nations where I sent you and will bring you home again to your own land.’” (Jeremiah 29:12-14, NLT) I was in a desperate moment, barely hanging on when Jesus met me where I was. I was seeking Him wholeheartedly, and I found Him when I needed Him most. Though this scripture talks about fortunes, my brothers and sisters, let me tell you, fortunes are more than money and success. When you have Jesus, you have it all. When you have Jesus, truly in your heart, you feel like the richest person in the world. That is exactly how I feel right now! I don't have a desire for anything accept Jesus and the future He has for me. I don't have to know what it looks like exactly, I just trust that where He is, I am going too, and it is the right direction. I don't share all of this to boast, but to encourage you to hold on! Jesus is going to help you get to the other side of your storm! When you have that breakthrough, you will be grateful, even for the hardships. Why? Because you will know Jesus and experience Him in a way you never did before. You will be closer to Him than you were before the storm or even during the storm. Your life will change, and you will learn to trust Him more. Just as I am now.
Being a Christian is not an easy thing. But it is well worth it! Nobody can love us like Jesus can. Nobody can save us like Jesus can! No one can get as far as we will go in our lives like Jesus can! Jesus is the best decision I ever made, to accept Him as my Lord and Savior, to trust Him with my life and to see that He gives me life, the abundant life! Jesus Himself tells us, “…I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!” (John 14:6-7, NLT) Do you know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior? If you do not, I want to invite you to come to Him today. There is no reason to wait. He is waiting for you to take His hand and for you to let Him into your heart. What I have shared here today, it is not something that Jesus does for just me; He will do it for anyone who lets Him in and receives Him as Lord and Savior. Let Him in. Taste and see that the Lord is good. What have you got to lose?
