Matthew 6:34, New International Version

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

What do we need to remind ourselves of today? Perhaps we need to be reminded that sometimes we need to take life one step at a time. That is how we will get there. The Bible tells us, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (Matthew 6:34, NIV) I think we all need this reminder because sometimes life throws a multitude of things at us that can be overwhelming. But we must remember Who we serve—the Lord Jesus Christ. He has all authority given to Him in heaven and on earth. He knows the situations we face each moment of the day, and He is faithful to walk with us in those moments.

The Bible never promises that as a Christian that life will be easy. However, it does say that Jesus will be with us in every moment—to the very end of the age. So in the difficult moments or challenging moments we face, Christ is there walking with us.  When He ascended to the right hand of God the Father, He did not leave us as orphans or comfortless; He sent the Holy Spirit to dwell within us. If you believe in Jesus and accept Him as your Lord and are born again, you have the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth, comfort you, and remind you of the things that you have learned.

As a God wink, I had come upon this scripture two times in one day. “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10, NIV). I want to encourage us not to handle life on our own, but to take it to the Lord. Rely upon Him! He is the faithful One who will see you to the end! He was willing to go to the cross, die, rise again, and send us the Holy Spirit. Since He was willing to go that far, why wouldn’t He go even further and help us in any given moment if we are surrendered to Him and looking to Him for our help and strength? It may not always look like how we want it to, but if we trust Him, His plans for us, which far surpass our own plans for ourselves, will be worked out for our good and His glory!

Perhaps you are reading this and a little hesitant about what I have just said. The only thing I know to say to you is try it! What have you got to lose? It may look foolish, but some of the things we pursue and try to do ourselves are foolish, aren't they?  Try them anyway and see what happens. You may just “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” (Psalm 34:8, NIV).

There is a new life in Christ that brings redemption from any situation. But we must be willing to give it to Christ…give our lives to Christ. He died to save us from our sins, death, and eternal hell. Why would we not want to accept this beautiful free gift?
