Philippians 4:6–7, New Living Standard

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

Sometimes we may think that “coincidences” happen. I believe, if you are looking for God, it is perhaps what they call a “God wink.”

This week, and two different devotionals, one day apart, I received this scripture:

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6–7, NLT)

There are times where we may feel anxious or overwhelmed or unsure what to do. At any moment of time, we need someone to talk to, someone to help us. How often do we take our “things” to the Lord? Scripture tells us not to worry, but to pray about everything (Philippians 4:6). Jesus tells us to come to Him all who are we heavy Burden (Matthew 11:28). Scripture also tells us to, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” (Matthew 6:33, NLT)

I believe God is trying to tell me something, tell us something. He’s saying, “Hey, I already know what you are going through. Bring it to Me, because I have a solution. Seek Me, keep knocking, and you will find Me.”

I get it, sometimes praying hard. Billy Graham, so eloquently wrote in my morning devotion, “God doesn’t necessarily remove all our problems when we become followers of Christ. But He has promised to be with us and help us and encourage us in the midst of those problems.” (Hope For Each Day, p.36)

Jesus tells us, “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” (John 14:27, NLT)

When the world throws a curveball at you, keep your eyes on Jesus! He has mercy for you that is new each morning, and He says His grace is sufficient for us. (2 Corinthians 12:9). Jesus is the hope of the world! Without Him, without His mercy and grace, I would have been lost long ago. But I am not. And you are not. Christ love keeps calling to us and drawing us in. Why? Because “The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.” (Proverbs 18:10, NLT) Because “Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces.” (Psalm 34:5, NLT)

I need this. I need Jesus. Do you?

If you have never accepted Jesus in your heart as a savior, it is never too late. Even at this moment, He is pursuing. You can accept Him now.

Let us pray: “Jesus, I surrender to You and accept You as my Lord and Savior. This world has given me false hope and false peace. But You say that I can come to You, and You will give me rest. I pray for rest and for Your gift of peace in my life. Teach me Your ways and show me what to do. In Jesus name. Amen.”
