Proverbs 3:6, New King James Version
"In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths."
Here's the scenario. You leave for work in the morning, and the fog is so thick you can only see a few feet in front of you. You drive slowly trusting that the road will be revealed as you drive. That's how it should be with the Lord, especially when we are in a season that doesn't make sense and we can't see what's ahead.
Â
Trusting God is like walking in the fog because it requires faith to move forward without seeing the entire path ahead, relying on God's presence and guidance even in uncertainty.
Â
To trust God one step at a time" means having faith in a divine plan, even when you can't see the entire path ahead, by focusing on the present and trusting that God will provide guidance and support for each individual step. It means not trying to know the full picture but instead relying on God to show you the next step and fulfill His purpose as you move forward.Â
Â
So, how do we do this in our daily life? First, focus on the present: Instead of getting overwhelmed by the future, concentrate on what God is guiding you to do right now. Secondly, trust in divine guidance: we have to understand that God doesn't always provide a full plan, but rather gives guidance for the immediate step, like a lamp lighting the path ahead. Also, we have to grow in faith. We build our faith when we are required to trust and obey in the unknown, believing that He will be faithful as you go. Next, we have to be adaptable. Being prepared to adjust your plans as God provides new information, as the journey is not always predictable.Â
Â
Trusting the Lord to guide us one step at a time means to walk "by faith, not by sight" and trust that God has the complete picture and is leading the way.Â
Â
Walking in fog is disorienting, and so is life when you can't see what's coming. Trusting God means accepting that you don't need to have all the answers to move forward.
Â
We can hope that one day, the fog will lift...when all questions wareanswered and the full picture will be clear.
Â
It takes courage to take each step forward without full visibility. Trusting God in this way is about finding the courage to keep moving, trusting He is with you.Â
Â
In the times where your next steps feel unclear, remember some of these truths about the nature of God:
Â
God’s thoughts are higher than our thoughts. When we don’t understand what’s going on around us, we can humbly rest in knowing that God thinks through things in a way much greater than we ever could.
Â
This will end well. In high times and low, clarity and in the fog, we know God is working for our good and His glory. (Romans 8:28)
Â
Your times of fog are not without purpose. He is producing goodness in you, as well as shining through you for the glory of His name. Nothing is wasted. And only He fully knows the greater heights waiting on the other side of the fog.Â
Â
Jesus wants to hold your hand and walk with you as you trust Him. Peace in the fog comes from trusting our most reliable guide, Jesus.
