2 Corinthians 1:20, New Living Translation

"For all of God's promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding "Yes!" And through Christ, our "Amen" (which means "Yes") ascends to God for His glory."

I am so glad there is no shelf life on the promises of God. When He makes a promise, when He establishes a covenant, He keeps it.

God keeps His promises, and one of the ways we know that is because of His faithfulness to the Jewish people. God keeps His promises, and the promise God made to Abraham didn't have a shelf life. It was still good. God will keep His promises to Israel. God will keep His promises to us. And He will keep His promise

to come again. Jesus is coming!

We have all had promises made to us that were broken. But when God makes a promise, you can take it to the bank. It’s good to go, and it will never get old.

We have all got things in our lives that are way past the expiration date, so to speak. We have all felt like there is no hope at times, like the promises of God have expired. You may have prayed for a certain situation for a long time, and nothing seems to be changing. It’s past due.

Why do we pull back from the promises of God? It’s easy to fall into doubt. Sarah laughed at God when God told her she would have a child. She laughed the laugh of doubt & unbelief. (Genesis 18:11-15) Sometimes we do the same thing. We laugh at God, just a little scoff to say, as if, God you can change my situation. Doubt and unbelief will stop the promises of God from coming to pass in your life. No matter how long it takes, we have to believe that God is faithful. We serve a miracle-working God and nothing is impossible for Him!

God told Sarah at the “Appointed Time” she would conceive a child. At times we incorrectly assume a “due date,” when we think things should happen in our lives. When that due date passes and things don’t happen when we think they should, we get discouraged and frustrated at God. We give God a due date instead of waiting for His appointed Time! Our job is to simply believe.

Don’t ever give up. God has an appointed time for everything in your life. When things don’t go our way, we have a choice:

We can either get bitter & laugh the laugh of doubt and unbelief, or we can believe God, no matter how long it takes. We can choose to say the promises of God are yes and Amen! We can adjust our due date to His appointed time. Most of the time things won’t happen when or how we think they should, but if we will believe, there is no situation God can’t turn around!

If you have past due dreams, past due promises, judge Him who has promised faithfully. (Psalm 100:5)

Once again, we read in God’s Word the statement, “the Lord is good…” This is a wonderful characteristic of God. He is good! He is eternally good. Psalm 52:1 (KJV) states, “…The goodness of God endureth continually…” How comforting to know that His goodness never ends. It is also important for us to realize that God is not only eternally good, but He is also exclusively good. In Mark 10:18 (KJV) Jesus said, “…There is none good but one, that is, God.” When He ceases to be good, He ceases to be God. 2 Corinthians 1:20 (NIV) says, "For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ. And so through him the ‘Amen’ is spoken by us to the glory of God."

God’s promises never expire. They have no expiration date. You see, every promise of God has been fulfilled in Christ. That means:

– We have access to every promise of God for our everyday lives.

– We can claim and stand on each and every one of the promises of God.

– We can rest in God’s promises every single day.

We should always focus on God and on the promises of God no matter what our situation looks like, knowing that His promises will never run out or grow old.

Not one of all the good promises of God has failed us. Every promise has been fulfilled. Trust God. God’s promises never expire.
