Hebrews 13:8, New Living Translation
"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever."
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8, NLT) Malachi 3:6 (NLT) says, “I am the Lord, and I do not change…” While everything around us is changing, we can depend on God continually showing us His grace, love, and compassion. All our material possessions may blow away, but God is still there.
Everything around us is in a state of constant change. Very little if anything ever stays the same for very long.
Information is changing. Technology is changing. The dollar bill is changing. Our bodies, our relationships, our workplaces, our vehicles, and our neighborhoods are all changing.
According to the Bible, in a world of change the only constant is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is steady. Trustworthy. Constant. He is rock-solid dependable.
In Jesus Christ we can find our footing and stand firm. We can confidently anchor our souls for eternity. We can have hope and not fear whatever the future holds.
Jesus is our stability. His character is unchanging. He always has been, and always will be our Rock and Redeemer, full of love, mercy, grace, peace, and truth.
Jesus never changes.
When everything around us is spinning out of control, we can stand on the scriptures and trust our Savior to stabilize and strengthen us.
Because Jesus never changes, we can have peace and trust the Lord to work all things out for our good and His glory. Knowing his character equips us to endure hardness.
The God we serve is the same God today as He was the day He raised Jesus from the grave. He is the same God today as He was when He spoke the world into existence. He is the God who saves, and He is the God in whom you can place your hope. If God never changes, then that means His love is forever. His forgiveness is forever. His salvation is forever. His promises are forever. And His attributes are forever.
We should find comfort in God’s unchanging nature. Every created thing in this life will let you down at some point in time. Whether it is circumstances, relationships, health, career, children, technology, etc. However unstable the circumstances around us are, God never changes.
We can be because of the assurance that God never changes. Jesus’ unconditional love isn’t earned or lost based on our sins. It remains constant!
Our only true hope in life is this: God never changes. He is the one constant we can count on while everything around us rages. He is our anchor!
