“Each time He said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.”

Yes, God can and often does use us when we are broken. In fact, He regularly uses imperfect, wounded, and weak people to do His work instead of waiting for us to be whole or strong. It is true that God can transform our deepest pain and failures into instruments of grace. Instead of requiring perfection, He often uses cracked, imperfect vessels to pour out His love, turning your personal struggles into a powerful ministry to help others.

Look at some of the people God used in a big way in Bible times. God has used broken, flawed individuals to accomplish extraordinary things:

Moses: Overcame a speech impediment and a past as a murderer to lead the Israelites.

King David: Found forgiveness and wrote psalms of worship after deep moral failures.

Peter: Went on to boldly lead the early church after denying Jesus three times.

And these are just a few examples!

Understanding how God works through our pain can be a source of great comfort and purpose.

God sees our brokenness not as something to discard, but as a path to deeper intimacy and restoration. The Bible promises that He is intimately close to the brokenhearted and heals our wounds. Instead of demanding perfection, God values a humble, repentant spirit, and He uses our pain to show His grace and strength. 

What does God say about our brokenness?

He says He draws near to us: Rather than abandoning us in our pain or failure, God promises in Psalm 34:18 to be near to those who are brokenhearted and crushed in spirit.

He uses it for a greater purpose: Often, God uses our vulnerabilities and trials to rebuild us and allow His light and strength to shine through our struggles, demonstrating that our power comes from Him rather than ourselves. 

Ultimately, God views our broken moments as opportunities to experience His unconditional love, relying on His grace rather than our own strength. 

So, why does God use brokenness? 

Our brokenness shows His power: Weakness and cracks let His light shine through without us taking the credit.

It helps others: Comfort we receive in our pain equips us to comfort and relate to other hurting people.

Your story of redemption from when you have walked through difficult seasons could just be what another person needs to hear! Do not let the enemy whisper in your ear that you are too broken to be used or are damaged goods—that couldn't be any further from the truth!

We all have our own unique struggles. But God can turn the ugliness of our pain and weakness into the beauty of His victory!

What brokenness are you facing? God can turn it around for His glory. He is sovereign and He is able to bring change in any situation. Praise God that He can create gold from our brokenness!
