Galatians 6:9, New Living Translation

"So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up."

"God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him."(James 1:12, NLT)

Have you ever felt like quitting something? I guess everyone from time to time feels like quitting their job, quitting a sport, quitting a relationship or quitting church. It seems like it would just be "easier" to give up.

When you feel tired and want to give up, remember that Jesus endured the cross and finished His course. Fixing your eyes on His perseverance can give you the strength to keep going through hard times.

So, why should we persevere and not give up?

First, Jesus understands our pain and struggles. He faced lies, beatings, and rejection without turning back.

Second, we have the promise of strength: God gives power to the weak and will not quit on you. We can tap into His strength anytime, day or night!

Thirdly, by persevering, we are rejecting the lie that our current struggles are who we are and what defines us. Do not let temporary heavy moments convince you to throw away your progress and believe that you are a lost cause.

Lastly, we shouldn’t quit because of those who are coming behind you. We may have eyes watching us to see how we deal with life. We need to live in such a way that our testimony is clear, and doesn’t cause others to stumble because of what they see or don’t see. What we are going through could be just the thing that helps someone else.

We may be tempted to ask God, Why?” and “Why me?” After these questions usually comes the worst question of all: “How do I get out of this?”

The question we should be asking is, “What should I get out of this?” As you face difficulties, you are going to learn that problems are not meant to defeat you, depress you, or even discourage you; they are meant to develop you. Problems are not tools to tear you down; they are tests to build you up. So don’t get discouraged when you face tough times. Instead, ask the Lord to help you learn from them and grow from them so that you can point others to Him.

Remember that Jesus didn't quit through suffering, trials, or the weight of the cross. When the road gets hard, hold on to your faith, push past the pain, and keep going. Your endurance has a purpose, and strength is coming to help you finish what you started.

My friend, be encouraged and rest in the promise that renewal comes to those who refuse to give up!
