Daylene's Life - His Testimony
I was born in Tucson AZ in a small community as a Mexican American in a family of ten. My younger years were hard. Being in a Mexican American family with a mostly white neighbors who did not know how to treat us was difficult at times. I was often mistreated by peers and teachers as well. They made fun of my appearance, my dark and thick and uncontrollable hair, and my hand me down clothes. I was so embarrassed, and I lost all self-confidence. I did not have many friends, and the ones I did have mostly became two faced. I began to try to eat my way to having confidence, and for a time that made me happy.

In my family, my mom did not teach us Spanish because she wanted us to speak English as much as possible so we could do well in school. I learned Spanish by talking with friends and boyfriends also on the streets.

During my teenage years my life was a mess, and I began to look for love in all the wrong places. I continued to choose the wrong friends and boyfriends and eventually the wrong husband. I became Catholic just so I could have a sense of belonging. We moved to Ohio and I tried to find a church where I could take my kids. I started to attend the Lisbon Assembly of God in 1984. I met Jesus and found that God had a plan for my life and knew where I needed to be. I found that no matter all my sins and failures, God loved me. I was so thirsty and hungry for God and every time I could hear about Jesus I knew I needed it.

I told God that I wanted to work with children and teach them about the love that I didn’t have when I was young. He opened the door for me to be a girls ministry leader and Sunday School teacher. My marriage soon failed however and I was a single mom once again. I am blessed that my 3 oldest sons either went into the Marine Corp. or Bible College and I could see God working in my life all the time. I had completely surrendered all my life to Him. God is so good!

I met a man who was blind yet saw me in a way that no other man had ever saw me. He too is now saved and we are happy. All my children are married, and we have 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. When you trust the Lord and love Him with your whole heart, He will give you peace that surpasses all understanding. If you wait upon Him you will not faint or grow weary. It has now been 44 years since I came to know Jesus and I know I have more to give. I desire to show the love of Jesus to and child who is hurting and feels unloved. Use me Lord for Your work, to love Your children!
