Philippians 1:6, New International Version

“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”

Have you ever experienced a situation in which you were paying someone to work on your house and just when you thought they were almost finished, you found out they had not completed the work but disappeared? How would this situation make you feel? Frustrated? Angry? Would you be skeptical of someone doing that kind of work in the future?

Over a decade ago I was in a situation just like this. A friend referred someone to me to do some remodeling at my apartment. I paid half of the total quote to them as a deposit. I then went away on a trip. While I was away, they sent me a message asking me to pay the rest because they finished the remodeling work at my apartment. I may have been too ignorant at the time; I had not checked on their work, yet I paid the full price. When I got home from the trip and went to the apartment, I found that the work was not in fact completed. I felt sad and it bothered me that my trust in a person who I knew could be broken so easily. In addition to that, I needed to pay even more to have someone else come and complete the project.

Could you imagine how dreadful it would be if you once again faced the same circumstance? Especially if there was not a second chance? What is something with no second chances – our life. With that understanding, I am super thankful to know the One who is leading, building, preparing, and transforming my sinful nature into His likeness, – God Himself. The Lord is not a halfway construction worker! Instead, He is a faithful promise Keeper!

“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” (Philippians 1:6, NLT)

“Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.” (Isaiah 25:1, NIV)

“Not a single one of all the good promises the LORD had given to the family of Israel was left unfulfilled; everything he had spoken came true.” (Joshua 21:45, NLT)

Do you know that there is a God who is trustworthy? Do you know that His Word is always fulfilled? Do you know that He loves you and He has a purpose for you? Do you know that He will never fail you and that He has a good, pleasing, and perfect will for you? If you know these things, congratulations! You truly have the best life! If you don’t, humble yourself and start your relationship with Him. His name is Jesus!
