1 John 4:9-10, New Living Translation

“God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.”

Let me say it plainly, “If the love Jesus demonstrated to you does not bring you down to your knees, you do not really understand the love of God!”

If we do not receive His love, we will never know what love truly means. And if we receive His love, then we should have His love overflowing inside us. When we have that same kind of love, the deep level of love, then the things that break His heart should also break ours. Through receiving His love, we come to understand what it cost Him in order for us to receive that love. A price that He paid as the atonement for our sin. How can I describe this kind of love? The weight of this love should be unbelievable, unexplainable, and immeasurable. It is heavier than any material you can weigh against it, and the result should humble us to our knees.

“But God demonstrates His love to us, that of us being still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8, BLB)

Nothing we do or say could be a possible reason for Christ to have laid down His life for us, especially with our sinful nature and desire to disobey Him. However, He did, and He settled the cost. Do you know the sin that is in you would cost a life? Once the filter(s) of sin, pride, unbelief, stubbornness, and deception are taken away, we can look into His heart and see the love that He has for us. There is no doubt that when we know that the wages of sin is death, we will then know the weight of His love is life.

“For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow…” (2 Corinthians 7:10, NLT)

The weight of His love removes the filter, removes the scales of our haughty eyes, so we could see our shadow, the darkness that can only be revealed under the Light. In the light of His love, we can see the difference between His love and our wickedness, His holiness and our lawlessness, His faithfulness, and our faithlessness. Though grief and sorrow may rise, when we kneel and accept His love, we will also rise to stand again.

“… for God has made us to be more than conquerors, and his demonstrated love is our glorious victory over everything!” (Romans 837, TPT)

God laid down His life for you, will you lay down yours for Him?
