Exodus 14:16, New Living Translation
“Pick up your staff and raise your hand over the sea. Divide the water so the Israelites can walk through the middle of the sea on dry ground.”
The Pharisees asked for a sign (Matthew 16:1) thousands of years ago, and thousands of years later many still seek for miracles. Believers of the Word of God seek it through prayer, unbelievers seek it through all kinds of mysterious ways, whatever way they see fit. Whether you are believer or non-believer, whether you claim to believe in a religion at all, if you label yourself a Christian, or prefer to be called a Christ follower… this is what you need to know:
First, there is only One Creator and Who can do whatever He desires without any help from anyone at anytime. (Isaiah 55:11) He can make anything out of nothing. He created the heaven and earth which was formless and empty and spoke light into the darkness (Genesis 1:1-2). He can also erase them and recreate them according to His will. (Revelation 21:1)
Second, miracles are not magic or fake. They are beyond human limits, and when they happen, they bring hope and joy and for the glory of the One who performed them.
The One who is qualified to work miracles is the One existed before anything else and holds all of creation together – His name is I AM who I Am, we call Him Jesus. (Colossians 1:17, Hebrews 1:3) Once we acknowledge Him and bow to His power, next we should be sure is to surrender to His way. The way that He leads is not always the way that we would prefer. His ways are higher than anything we can think of. (Isaiah 55:8-9)
When we seek to know Him and His way, we find there were many who walked with Him, and who have experienced His miracles throughout the testimonies written in the Bible. Moses saw Him open the Red Sea, the widow’s flour and oil never ran out, Jesus fed the five thousand, Paul’s handkerchiefs and aprons healed the sick… (Exodus 14:19-31, 1 Kings 17:7-16, Matthew 14:13-21, Acts19:11-12) God performed His miracles for those who cried out and sought Him. Miracles are not found in what we have. He wants you to know every penny counts. He does not take lightly what we have to offer Him, and He rewards us for our faith. (Mark 12:41-44) Our faith in Him pleases Him, and He will reward those who trust in Him. (Hebrews 11:6) No matter how little you have to offer for His use, He can use it in a way that is beyond, just like when He used Moses’s staff to open the Red Sea. It was a miracle!
Let me end this message with a testimony I have been blessed to witness:
I was visiting a local church service, and the Pastor welcomed a lady who was attending the service to share her gift – using sign language to worship the Lord. When she was being pushed out in the front of the congregation by her caregiver, I began to praise the Lord because I knew it was not just about sign language. When the music started, she used the limited movements of her arms and her fingers to sing along with the song. The beautiful worship she offered to the Lord touched many hearts that morning. It is a reminder to us that all things are possible to God, and it was an encouragement that was greater than any word could say. On that particular morning, she was a miracle God sent to bring hope and joy for His glory!
