Psalm 22:16, King James Version
“…They pierced my hands and my feet.”
“…This is the price you’ll pay to be considered one of my followers. Anyone who comes to me must be willing to share my cross and experience it as his own, or he cannot be considered to be my disciple. So don’t follow me without considering what it will cost you…” (Luke 14:26-28, TPT)
While at a worship service I was singing the following lyrics, and an inspiration along with understanding came upon my mind:
“…The soldier who had used his sword to pierce the body of our Lord… The holes in His hands, His feet and side…”
Those who will oppose the Lord will do the same to the body of Christ. We are the body of Christ and we are His hands and His feet, Jesus is our head, the Captain, and we are His sidekicks, those who follow and do what the Lords instructed. The opposer will try to poke holes in the body just as he did in the physical body of Christ. So, with that understanding, a question we may need to ask ourselves is this, “Am I His hands and feet?” If we can say that we truly are, then don’t be surprised when we are pierced and poked.
“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also…” (John 15:18-20, NIV)
Paul mentions in the letter to the Philippians (1:21, NIV), “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”
Do you have that mindset? Are you ready to live for Him, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing, to bring true and proper worship to God? (Romans 12:1) Are you ready to fight the good fight, to finish the race, and keep going with your faith? Do you desire to receive the crown of righteousness that is in Christ and that is in store for you? (2 Timothy 4:7-8) Are you ready to lay down your life for your brothers and your friends? (1 John 3:16, John 15:3) Are you willing to lose your life to save your soul for eternity? (Luke 9:23-24) Do you love Jesus and care about the sheep who are lost and without a shepherd? Are you ready to love like the Good Shepherd who laid His life down for the sheep? (John 21:15-17, Matthew 9:36, John 10:11)
Let me leave you with this:
“No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other…” (Matthew 6:24, NLT)
“For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.” (Galatians 1:10, ESV)
Have you decided to be a servant of Christ, to be His hands and feet?
