Matthew 10:31, Berean Literal Bible
“Therefore you should not fear; you are worth more than many sparrows.”
A dear girlfriend of mine gave me a book titled “Joyful Surrender” written by Elisabeth Elliot. The author mentions in the book that her father was an amateur ornithologist and had a great interest in birds. She said that He often closed his lectures with these lines:
“Said the robin to the sparrow, ‘I should really like to know why these anxious human beings rush about and worry so.’”
“Said the sparrow to the robin, ‘Friend, I think that it must be that they have no heavenly Father such as cares for you and me.’”
From these quotes she responded with the statement: Of course, we do!
This little paragraph made me wonder if the birds in the air, the animals on the ground, and the living things in the sea may know God, and in some way experience the Creator. Do they know that He cares enough for them to feed them and supply for their needs?
I do not pretend to have the answer to these questions. However, I can say with certainty, “Sadly there is many human beings, who the Lord created them in His image, a divine likeness, do not even recognized who are they came from, created for, and paid a price to redeemed. They have not known their heavenly Father who cares for them, you and me, now and then.”
“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” (Matthew 6:26, NIV)
Are you not much more valuable than they are? Do you not know the truth or are you rejecting the truth?
“Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.” (John 3:20-21, NIV)
Let’s ask again: Do you not know the truth or are you rejecting the truth?
I hope you will take time to think about the price that Jesus paid, how much you are worth to Him:
“But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5, ESV)
