Isaiah 6:1, New International Version

“In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple.”

Throughout history, there have been kings and kingdoms, armies and empires that have come and gone, risen and fallen. Century after century, we witness many who lean on their kings, their governments, and their militaries. Yet we should also recognize that there is an end to all of them.

Whether you call it great Babylon or mighty Rome, just as Scripture says in Isaiah 6:1: “In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple.” (Isaiah 6:1, NIV)

Each and every earthly king has died or will die, but there is One who never will. He is everlasting, alive, and powerful. He is high and exalted, seated on a throne, and the train of His robe fills the temple. There is no other but Him. His name is Jesus! He is the One who is the Alpha and the Omega, who is, who was, and who is to come, the Almighty (Revelation 1:8)

“For in Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” (Colossians 1:16-17, NIV)

“And He has a name written on His robe and on His thigh: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” (Revelation 19:16, BSB)

Should we follow the crowd, like those who doubted and raised the question in John 7:26: “…Have the authorities really concluded that he is the Messiah?” Or should we seek the truth ourselves?

The Israelites asked for a man, one created by the Creator, to be their king. In doing so, they rejected the One who does not need to be qualified by the hand of man. Years passed, decades passed, and centuries passed. The solid proof we can see is the tragedy of a nation: repeated cycles of exile, destruction, and war. Is that what we want for our lives? Or will we learn wisely and recognize the King who is seated on the throne, high and exalted, and everlasting?

“Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” (1 John 5:1-5, NIV)

Is there any reason to reject the One true King who loves you and can bring you into the victory that has overcome the world? No! I hope you know that too!
