Habakkuk 1:5, English Standard Version

“Look among the nations, and see; wonder and be astounded. For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe if told.”

Have you ever heard someone say something like, “How could God allow that to happen?” Or “This doesn’t make any sense to me, it is hard to believe God would lead me in this direction or way.”

Maybe we are so in tune with the world that we expect God to move exactly as we expect Him to when we expect Him. Have you ever found that you treat the Lord like a microwave? You punch in the info and hit start and a few seconds or minutes later it is done?

Is it possible to come to a place where we are in such agreement with the knowledge of man, or so trusting of our own experiences or wisdom, that we seek the common sense of man instead of the higher way of God?

Maybe you have more theories… maybe you would prefer to trust a god that you can figure out according to man’s wisdom. Well, if that is you, maybe this is time for you to reconsider if this is the god you are willing to give your heart to and seek to bring you hope and life.

Many times, I kneel, I bow to, I praise, and I give thanks to is the One true God, who is:

“’For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,’ declares the LORD. ‘For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so My ways are higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.’” (Isaiah 55:8-9, BSB)

“For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.” (Colossians 1:16, ESV)

“Nor is He served by human hands, as if He needed anything, because He Himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. From one man He made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and He determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their lands.” (Acts 17:25-26, BSB)

“So My word that proceeds from My mouth will not return to Me empty, but it will accomplish what I please, and it will prosper where I send it.” (Isaiah 55:11, BSB)

And…

“For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.” (Habakkuk 2:3, ESV)

This is the God I trust with all my heart, all my mind, all my soul, and all my strength. His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6) For there is no other name but Jesus, the only one under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)

From now on, may you, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5, NIV)
