John 6:35, New Living Translation

“Jesus replied, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.’”

Where can you go when your soul is weary and tired? Where can you go when things are around? Things seem to be more bad than good? Where can you go when you feel like you’ve got nowhere else to go? Where do you go when you feel like you cannot do it on your own anymore?

The answer: Jesus Christ.

“Jesus replied, ‘I am the breath of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.’” (John 6:35, NLT)

Whether you do not believe in Jesus, in our searching for truth, or a believer who is falling away, or perhaps your heart has grown hard, this word is for you.

We have tried to do things our own way. And trying to solve our own problems, we run weary, like we cannot go on anymore. But Jesus offers us the words of life. We the world condemn us; Jesus meets us where we are and does work in our hearts and lives if we allow Him.

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that killed the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects for chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me. And now, look, your house is abandoned and desolate. For I tell you this, you will never see me again until you say, ‘Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the LORD.’” (Matthew 23:37-39, NLT)

Perhaps we didn’t kill the prophets or stone, God’s messengers, but by not alone in Christ to work for us, haven’t we rejected Him? He belongs to gather us in His arms and yet we run as far from Him as we can. We still try to rely on ourselves.

Psalm 55:22 (NLT) tells us to, “Give your burdens to the LORD, And he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.” The Lord wants to help us with our burdens. To Him, we should take them, surrender them, and trust Him. He will direct us to the right people who can give us sound and godly counsel apart from Him.

“Dear brothers and sisters, another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly and gentle and humbly hope that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. Each other’s burdens, and in this way, obey the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:1-2, NLT)

We draw our strength from Christ and from the body of Christ. On our own, we are weak, but through our weakness, God gives us strength. We must recognize 1.) there is God and 2.) We are a needy people, and we need God. Without Him, we are wanderers lost without a purpose. Through Him, our lives have meaning, and we find purpose. That place in our heart becomes filled with Him and we become secure because we recognize His love for us, His provision for us, and that He is our protection. He is the bread of life that sustains us, He is the living water that gives us eternal life.

Together, let us bring down the walls and allow Jesus to gather us into His arms. Let Him show you what He wants to do for you and who He wants to be for you!
