John 14:6, New Living Translation
“Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.’”
Have you ever been uncertain about something, and you searched for the answer, so you knew you had the truth? And certainty leads to the pursuit of truth. That can be in our walk with Christ. Maybe you are a seasoned Christian you feel like God doesn’t hear or see you. Maybe you or someone who has heard about Jesus for the first time and you have lots of questions.
It’s okay to ask questions. And it’s okay to be uncertain, because uncertainty leads to the pursuit of truth.
Jesus said in John 14:6 (NLT), “… ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.’” The word of God also tells us in John 1:1-2 (NLT) “In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God.” From these two scriptures, we can gather that Jesus is the Truth and the Word and that He wants us to seek Him. When searching for truth, we can open the Bible to search for answers, and we can go to God in prayer.
There may be times where we may be uncertain about God. Is He really good? Does He really see me, care about me, love me? The answer to these questions is yes. Yes, He sees you, He cares about you, and He loves you!
In Psalm 139:15-16 (NLT) it says, “You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.”
Our Father, God, knitted us together in our mother’s womb. He loved us so much to bring us into this world, and included in His book. Why would He do that if He didn’t love us? How could He do that if He hasn’t seen us?
Unfortunately, there are things experienced in life that are traumatic. There are things we experience that affect us in such a way that causes us to question, “Is God really good? Does He really love me or see me?” The way we choose to respond to these questions has an eternal effect on our future. Heaven or hell.
I would hope that you would choose eternal life in heaven. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT) says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek as well on all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”
Will you choose to trust God? Take a moment to think of something God did for you. I think back to the little church in Hamlet, North Carolina, where God could have left me alone and hurting with five hundred miles between me and my family and having no idea what the next step of my life was. But He used this beautiful sister in Christ to invite me to church. He met me there through worship music in the message of the pastor. And He told me I wasn’t alone.
To some, this may seem like a small thing, but it really isn’t. God met me at a low point in my life. Instead of leaving me alone to deal with my mess, He showed up with love in my mess and changed the trajectory of my life. He saved me from a path of self-destruction. He made me a new creation, and His grace I am saved! I didn’t earn it, and I couldn’t earn it if I tried. The beautiful thing, He wants to do that to one of us, because He loves us. He wants to do that for each one of us because He sees us and He cares.
Will you choose to trust God? Will you give your heart to Him? Maybe you are a seasoned Christian who has walked away from God. It’s not too late for you to turn back to Him! God wants to meet you in your brokenness and make something beautiful! Whether you are a seasoned Christian or someone who just learned about Jesus, He wants you. Will you let Him meet you where you are? Will you trust Him to change the trajectory of your life?
