Psalm 61:1–4, (New Living Translation)
“O God, listen to my cry! Hear my prayer! From the end of the Earth, I cry to you for help when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering rock of safety, for you are my safe refuge, a fortress, where my enemies cannot reach me. Let me live forever in your sanctuary, safe beneath the shelter of your wings!"
God walks with us in every season of our lives. He’s there when we are grieving, He’s there when we are celebrating, He’s there when we are struggling, He’s there when everything in life seems to be going right.
I thank God that He’s here for us in every moment. He knows exactly how we feel. When we don’t know how to express our thoughts or feelings, He already knows. We don’t have to say a word. But I would encourage you to say a word. Tell Him what you are thinking, what you are feeling! He loves you and wants to hear from you. When you don’t know what to do, He can show you the direction to take. When David was distraught, He cried out, “O God, listen to my cry! Hear my prayer! From the ends of the Earth, I cry to you for help when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering rock of safety, for you are my safe refuge, a fortress, where my enemies cannot reach me. Let me live forever in your sanctuary, safe beneath the shelter of your wings.” (Psalm 61:1-4, NLT)
I am so thankful that we have a personal God to cry out to when our heart cannot take anymore! Our cries do not fall on deaf ears! Isaiah 40:29–31 (NLT) says, “He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youth will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.”
Time and time again, I have seen this scripture fulfilled in my own life. I look back and know there’s no way I could have made it through without God helping me. He wants to do the same for you! When we put our little hand in His big hand and trust Him, we can begin to see Him working on our behalf!
Isaiah 41:10 (NLT) is a command, and a promise. “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
No matter what life throws at us, we must remain strong in our faith and strong in God! The enemy will do all he can to discourage us, and get us to believe that God isn’t good, and that he is the cause of our grief. We must recognize that is a lie, straight from the pit of hell! Jesus tells us, “… My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” (John 10:10, NLT) Jesus also tells us, “Don’t let your heart be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There’s more than enough room in my father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so you will always be with me where I am.” (John 14:1-3, NLT)
These are the promises we have to hold onto! Don’t let the enemy steal these from you! God is rich in mercy and His love for us never fails! He is the same yesterday, today, and forever! Put your hand in His, and don’t let go!
