Psalm 139:13, 15-16, New Living Translation
“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mothers womb. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book.”
Just give it to Jesus… How often do we hear this? How often do we follow through with it? We are all so intricately created by God. Psalm 139:13 and 15-16 (NLT) says, “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body, and knit me together in my mothers womb. You watch me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book.”
Every day of my life was recorded in Your book. Every day of your life, and every day of my life. That means every detail, how we handle the situation, how something may have hurt us (physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually) every mistake, and everything that gave the Lord glory. But none of these are recorded to condemn. Romans 8:1-2 (NLT) says, “So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving spirit has freed you from the power of sin, that leads to death.” Further down in the same chapter, Paul tells us in verse 28, “For we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God, and are called according to his purpose for them.”
So, now that we know, we are not condemned by our past, now that we know, He works all things together for a good, because we belong to Him, what do we do with these things that we are holding onto that are affecting us physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually? Matthew 6:33 (NLT) says, “Seek the kingdom of God, above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” “He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3, NLT)
Our Father, our Lord and Savior do not want us to dwell on things so that they affect us negatively. In fact, Paul gives us instruction, “Don’t sin by letting your anger control you. Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil.” (Ephesians 4:26-27, NLT) By harboring our anger, we are allowing it to control us, which causes us to sin against God. By dwelling upon it, we are doing damage to our own health and self. Here’s some wisdom from Proverbs 16:23–25 (NLT). “From a wise mind comes wise speech; the words of the wise are persuasive. Kind words are like honey— sweet to the soul and healthy for the body. There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death.”
So, with this, let us seek the Lord when we are angry and hurting. By this, we gain wisdom. By this… Surrendering to God, we receive direction from Him. As challenging as it may be, we can respond with forgiveness (giving and receiving) and kind words, that are sweet and healthy for the body. Not only to others, but to the self! We must be able to forgive ourselves! We must speak kindly to ourselves! I don’t mean this with pride, but with the importance of self-care! We are the temple of God; His Spirit lives in us! Let us love and properly take care of what God has graciously given us, so we can live to the fulfillment of God’s plan for our lives. “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good, and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11, NLT)
