Exodus 4:10-12, New Living Translation
“But Moses pleaded with the Lord, “O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you’ve spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.” Then the Lord asked Moses, “Who makes a person’s mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go! I will be with you, as you speak, and I will instruct you, in what to say.”
It’s amazing at times when fear and doubt creep in uninvited! What if the very thing that scares us, is the thing that God wants us to face head on? Because fear takes a hold of us, we feel we aren’t qualified or able to do something. We don’t know enough about it or, what if we say the wrong thing?!
I am reminded of Moses, when the Lord called him to speak on behalf of the Israelites in front of Pharaoh. “But Moses pleaded with the Lord, ‘O Lord, I am not very good with words. I never have been, and I am not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.’ Then the Lord asked Moses, ‘Who makes a person’s mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the Lord? Now, go! I will be with you, as you speak, and I will instruct you, and what to say.’” (Exodus 4:10-12, NLT)
Our enemy, the devil, has been using fear and intimidation on us, so we won’t complete the things on earth. God has called us to do so, so we won’t trust God. Instead of listening to the voice of fear and intimidation, let us really trust God and listen to His voice! God says:
Isaiah 41:10 (NLT), “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
2 Corinthians 3:5-6 (NLT), “It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualification comes from God. He has enabled us to be ministers of His new covenant. This is a covenant not of written laws, but of the Spirit. The old written covenant ends in death; but under the new covenant, the Spirit gives life.”
As the Lord was with Moses and put His words in his mouth, so He will do for us, if we are willing, if we are obedient. It is His Spirit within us that will teach us and guide us in which way to go. In the grand scheme of things, it is an honor to be chosen by God to spread the good news of Jesus Christ! It’s a blessing to share the gospel, so all would have an opportunity to turn to God, repent of their sins, and receive salvation!God works in such wonderful and miraculous ways! God is looking for a willing heart to work through. I heard a story on K-Love radio of an individual driving down the road. They had prayed and asked God to use them. After they prayed, they felt they were to get off at the next exit and do a handstand in the gas station that they first came upon. Naturally, an individual would be nervous and afraid. But this individual chose to trust God. They pulled off at the next exit and pulled into the first gas station. They came across. When they went inside, they walked around a little bit, out of being nervous. Then they made the decision, “Okay, God, if this is really You, then I am just going to do it.” They went to the front of the store and did the handstand. The cashier behind the register began to cry. They told the individual, "I was just talking to God, and said,” If you are real, send someone into this gas station to do a handstand.”
Can you imagine the difference made in that person’s life because of another individuals obedience to God? Can you imagine the difference we can make if we keep ourselves willing to submit to the Lord? It might seem scary, maybe you feel like you would look silly. It’s in those moments, if we submit to God, that God does miraculous things! Remember, our qualifications come from God! And because of this, we are blessed because He chose us to minister with him!
