Exodus 29:45, New Living Translation

“Then I will live among the people of Israel and be their God.”

I believe being a Christian does not mean the work that you do or the church you attend, nor how often you attend church activities, or how much time you spend reading the Bible. It is never about our age, our background, how dramatic our testimony is, or the number of years we have believed in Jesus. These things may be evidence that we have accepted Jesus as our Savior. However, being a Christian is a lifestyle – this is why the Lord asked His people to be set apart! (Deuteronomy 14:2, Colossians 3:12-17, 1 Peter 3:15-17)

The Lord’s people do not only seek Jesus as their Savior, but as their Lord. They seek to live their life according to the example that Jesus has set. What has He shown us? “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” (Romans 12:2, NLT)

I have lived in the world, and now I am blessed to live in the Kingdom and I know my value. This means I cannot and should not make my decision or act like those who do not know Jesus (His word/the truth). Whether as a home keeper for my family, a sister for one another, or a worker for His kingdom, I could not and should not work like I work for myself and the world. Instead, I should seek my Boss as He instructed: wholeheartedly. I should seek to follow and obey every detail and follow every turn along the way that He instructs of me. Once I fully understood God’s purpose, I recognized He is the only One who knows how and when to accomplish the task ahead.

Because of that realization, I dare not even try to figure out when, where, and how, but simply ask what to do next. Thank you, Jesus, who leads me along His path! Whatever and however He would like to shape and mold and use me, here I am. He can send me, and I need only to say, “Yes Lord.”

Over the past year I am grateful that God has revealed some of His plan for my husband and I. I sat down in the living room, and by grace, I talked with my Lord. “Lord Jesus, thank you for revealing Your will to us. Yet, I have no idea what and how to do what you have for me to do?” The Lord then gave me three words, “Dwell in Me!”

This is the answer the Lord has given me, and I am relaxed to know that it is on Him. Throughout the Bible, the presence of the Lord is not something that we can demand. It is Him, the Most High, who chooses to come near and dwell among His people. Jesus demonstrated as He walked with, ate with, and lived amid His disciples. His disciples were with Him and He lived His life with them! Nowadays, Jesus may not be physically dwelling among us, but hear this:

“What agreement does the temple of God have with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, ‘I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.’” (2 Corinthians 6:16, ESV)

He is the God of life, a living God! After all, He dwells among us and we dwell with Him. Let’s do all things together with Him!
