2 Timothy 3:16, New Living Translation

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.”

The letter that the Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy is a heartfelt message to a young believer.

Consider 1 Timothy 4:12 (NLT), “Don't let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.”

Or 2 Timothy 2:22, (NIV), “Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”

However, this book is not limited to the age of the reader or the length of time that a person has been a Christian. It is full of very fundamental knowledge for being a follower of Christ Jesus. According to 2 Timothy 3:16 (NLT): “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.”

Every single word that is written in the Bible teaches that it is inspired by God and God Himself. Every individual word that is used is precise (In the original language: Hebrew, Greek, or Arabic), and it is sharp like a double-edged sword which can cut through joints and marrow, soul and spirit. That includes teaching us what is right and warning us about the consequences we will experience if we do wrong.

Many people have said that the Bible is just a book of rules and regulations, and simply tells you what you can and cannot do. This is especially true in this century (It also happened in the time of Noah. A time when people did not know God, and there was wickedness and rebellion from fall), if then, what do I mean when I say especially in this century? More people today profess that what is evil is good and what is good is evil than ever before. The devil knows how short his time is and he is ramping up his lies and delusions like never before. Everyone wants to stand for their rights and have been deceived to think they deserve it all, and yet they deny God. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 (NIV) warns us:

“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves; lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.”

Dear brothers and sisters, I leave this word from 2 Timothy 4:1-5 (NIV) with you, “In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.  They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.  But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.”
