Matthew 11:28, New International Version
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28, NIV)
Who never feels weary or has burdens? Jesus invites each and every one who is weary and burdened to come close to Him. Whether it is about their health, a financial crisis, a relationship situation… Whatever our cares and concerns are, we can find rest in Him. Simply put, we all need Jesus, and we all need to come to Jesus.
Paul instructed the believers of Christ in the letter he wrote to Philippians saying, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7, NIV)
And the peace that Paul mentioned was also mentioned by Jesus when He said, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27, NKJV)
Jesus is not like men that can lie, nor does He need to boast. Peace is who He is. Listen to this, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6, ESV)
He is the Prince of peace! He is able and qualified and will never lack to give you the peace that you seek to have in your life! He said, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33, ESV) In Him, no matter how severe the troubles and challenges you may face, you can find peace.
That’s also why Paul’s letter to the Colossians says, “… let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.” (3:15, ESV) The prophet Isaiah enhances this peace by encouraging His people telling them, “You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on You—in both inclination and character], Because he trusts and takes refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation].” (Isaiah 26:3, AMP)
Let me leave this for you, 1 Peter 5:7 (ESV), “Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”
